Emily Snow - Awareness

Who Are You Beyond Name and Form?
Do not answer this with thought.
Do not turn to memory, belief, or imagination.
Let all names fall.
Let every description be set aside.
Let even the idea of “you” be suspended for a moment.
Now—
what remains?
What is here,
before your history?
What sees,
before anything is seen?
You are not your name.
That was given.
You are not your form.
That is changing.
You are not your thoughts.
They come and go.
You are not your roles.
They begin and end.
All of these appear within something that does not appear.
That does not change.
That cannot be described,
but is never absent.
Look directly.
Not with effort. Not with seeking.
Simply notice what is aware of every experience,
yet untouched by any of them.
That is what you are.
It does not belong to you.
It is you.
But not the you you think you are.
It was never born.
It will never end.
It needs no defense, no enhancement, no approval.
This is not a conclusion.
It is not a belief.
It is not a higher version of self.
It is the absence of self as an object.
You are not a person having awareness.
You are Awareness—
not as a concept,
but as the unchanging fact of every moment.
Stay with this.
Not to find something—
but to see what never left.
