Alain Joly - Simply being

"Your sense of simply being
is the most shy presence
you will ever encounter in your life,
and yet you will find nothing more attractive
than its discreet and humble presence.
There is glory in simply being,
without going for qualities, qualifications, objects, pretence.
Silence is louder than noise,
and truth more clamorous than any lie can be."

Jean Klein - The All-presence

"But at other times when you say I exist, you are heading towards the perception of a non-state, which is neither of the body nor of the mind. This non-state is being, it is indeterminable, cannot be located mentally or physically. It is neither a thought nor a feeling. This non-state is identical to that of your surroundings. You are of the very same essence. In this non-state there are no surroundings. If there is another, that is, if there are surroundings, there is an I, and vice-versa.

"Our surroundings are not contained by name and form. You are neither the body nor the mind, these are limits you identify with through a lack of clear-sightedness. When you are attentive to a tree or flower, the perception, shape, name and concept are not the only things present. There is also the All-presence that you share with them and that you are both part of. The very name and form spring forth from this eternal background, the All-presence. This is instantaneous awareness that cannot be reached by thought."

Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī - Love is the sea of not-being

 Subtle degrees
of domination and servitude
are what you know as love
but love is different
it arrives complete
just there
like the moon in the window
like the sun
of neither east nor west
nor of anyplace
when that sun arrives
east and west arrive
desire only that
of which you have no hope
seek only that
of which you have no clue
love is the sea of not-being
and there intellect drowns
this is not the Oxus River
or some little creek
this is the shoreless sea;
here swimming ends
always in drowning
a journey to the sea
is horses and fodder and contrivance
but at land's end
the footsteps vanish
you lift up your robe
so as not to wet the hem;
come! drown in this sea
a thousand times

Simó Necic - Off\me

When you think of me
I am a thought
Sometimes a feeling, that comes as a thought
Sometimes a thought, that comes as a feeling.

I am not that.
This image, created, done.

I am not the words, the names that have been learned, written, imprinted, carved.
Words that draw your image, your map of reality,
of someone’s and something’s and sometime’s
Reality
Images of you and me and the other,
It is, we are – not, not this, not that.

You might be aware of it, but even “awareness” is not what you are, what I am.
Awareness
is just another idea, a coordinate on the map of the mind, in the mindscape.
The whole lot is unknown, it remains unknown, and no study, no practice, no teaching, no science, no experience, no exploration
can ever grasp it.

There’s no coming close, no going beyond, nothing to reach.
Imagination is a great painter.

It can appear like a mystery
but it is not even a mystery.
Nothing can be revealed,
but the drawing, the painting appears in such mysterious, vivid colors.
There must be order, higher purpose,
but the order might just be the love for creating,
repetitive patterns, stories so vibrantly appearing, so real, looking like impressive sandcastles on the beach of life,
facing the ocean
to be washed away.

The order is love, life.
But “love” is not the order, love has no order, no pattern.
Life, love,
does not prefer one name, one appearance over the other.
It is rather like the ocean, between offering habitat and flooding it.
A natural force like fire, able to burn everything to ashes, and the ashes being the nurturing soil for rise, growth.

All life is appearance, transience.
Colorful names and images that seem to be real, separated, individual, apparent things, that have edges, but the image is blurring, fading.

Memory, that turns into oblivion.
The ocean swallowing, assimilating it.
Alive.

Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī - the call of my Beloved

Last night I learned
how to be a lover of God,
To live in this world and
call nothing my own.
I looked inward
And the beauty
of my own emptiness
filled me till dawn.
It enveloped me
like a mine of rubies.
Its hue clothed me in red silk.6
Within the cavern of my soul
I heard the voice of a lover crying,
“Drink now! Drink now!”—
I took a sip and
saw the vast ocean—
Wave upon wave
caressed my soul.
The lovers of God
dance around
And the circle
of their steps
becomes a ring
of fire round my neck.
Heaven calls me
with its rain and thunder—
a hundred thousand cries
yet I cannot hear.....
All I hear is the
call of my Beloved.

Jean Klein - Free from yourself

Jean Klein: When you become more and more familiar with the art of observation, you will first see that you do not observe; when you see that you do Not observe, you are immediately out of the process. There is a moment, a kind of intuition, when you see yourself free from all will, free from all representation; you feel yourself in this fullness, in this moment beyond thought. It is mainly through observation and attention that you get to feel what you are fundamentally.
Stephan Bodian: How would you describe liberation?
JK: I'll give you a short answer. It is to be free from yourself, free from the image you think you are. That's liberation. It's such a blast to see that you are nothing, and then live completely in harmony with that nothingness. The body approach that I teach is pretty much a beautiful pretext, because in a way the body is like a musical instrument that needs to be tuned.
SB: And we tune in to play on it the song of our own naughtiness.
JK: Exactly. Liberation means living freely in the beauty of your absence. You see, in a moment, there's nothing seen or seen. Then you live it.
SB: This is what you refer to as living free from psychological memory.
JK: Of course.
SB: Is it really possible to live in the world in this state of total openness and freedom of our own identity, doing the things we do — leading very busy lives, taking care of family, etc?
JK: Yes. You can live in a family perfectly without the image of being a father or a mother, a lover or a husband. You can perfectly educate your children not to be something, and have a loving relationship with them as a friend, rather than as a father.
SB: Do you agree that we have to be somebody before we can be nobody?.
JK: First you have to see how you work. And you'll see that you function like somebody, like a person. You live constantly by choice. You totally live in the psychological structure of "like" and "dislike" that brings you affliction. You've got to see that. If you identify with your personality, it means you identify as your memory, because personality is memory, which I call psychological memory. In this view, this natural abandonment, the personality disappears. And when you live in this nothingness, something completely different emerges. Instead of seeing life based on the projections of your personality, things appear in your life as they are, as facts. And these appearances naturally bring their own solution. You are no longer identified with your personality, with psychological memory, although your functional memory continues. Instead, there is a cosmic personality, a trans-personality, that appears and disappears when you need it. You are nothing but a channel, responding accordingly.

J.Krishnamurti - Authority

The world accepts and follows the traditional approach. The primary cause of disorder in ourselves is the seeking of reality promised by another; we mechanically follow somebody who will assure us a comfortable spiritual life. It is a most extraordinary thing that although most of us are opposed to political tyranny and dictatorship, we inwardly accept the authority, the tyranny, of another to twist our minds and our way of life. So if we completely reject, not intellectually but actually, all so-called spiritual authority, all ceremonies, rituals and dogmas, it means that we stand alone and are already in conflict with society; we cease to be respectable human beings. A respectable human being cannot possibly come near to that infinite, immeasurable, reality.

Freedom from the known

Anthony de Mello - Wake up!

"Society and culture determine what it means to be a success and drill it into our heads, day and night. Stop to consider this: Having a good job or being famous or having a great reputation has absolutely nothing to do with happiness or success. Nothing! It is totally irrelevant.
Do you want to be one of those people who society says made it? Made what?! Made asses of themselves because they drained all their energy getting something that was worthless. They’re frightened and confused. Do you call that a success?
They are controlled and manipulated. They are miserable. They don’t enjoy life. They are constantly tense and anxious. Do you call that human? If you contemplate this long enough, you will experience a disgust so deep that you will instinctively fling every attachment away as you would toss away a serpent that has settled on you.
You will revolt and break loose from this putrid culture that is based on acquisitiveness and attachment, anxiety and greed, and on the hardness and insensitivity of nonlove. Wake up! You don’t need this. It’s wasting your life. You can be blissfully happy without your attachments.
People think that if they had no cravings, they would be like deadwood, but in fact they would lose their tension. If you get rid of your fear of failure and drop your tensions about succeeding, you will be yourself. You will be relaxed. You won’t be driving with your brakes on. That’s what would happen."
