Ulla - Silence

What rest in Silence but the first sigh so words could out of it fly!

 Silent Beat!

Between thoughts and mind,
Man can the heart find.

Beating effortlessly with the pulse of life,
It is void of chatter and portrayal of strife.

It is so simple and spontaneous that it often passes man by,
Like a cloud in the sky.

When thoughts and words cross the road,
Man is burdened with separation and the conceptual load.

Discovering the silent beat,
Render mind’s chatter obsolete.

 The Silencer!

The Silencer has nothing to offer,
When it comes to the conceptual coffer.

The silencer does not talk a great deal,
Mental noise and speaking holds no appeal.

The Silencer walks with no crowd,
Has nothing to say or being over anything proud.

The Silencer does not take delivery of volition,
Or adhere to any tradition or mission,

The Silencer in stillness rest no longer moved by any quest.
The Silencer can be found,
Behind the thoughts that race around and around!

The Silencer is TOTAL presence,
The primordial quintessence of silent omnipresence!

The Way

The Way

The Sage and the Guru got into a fight
About who was wrong and what was right.
“Dear Guru, if you knew what I do, you’d know,
That the knowing as you know it, just isn’t so.”
“Though your words, dearest Sage, sound outrageously wise
There is much in this suchness you miss with your eyes.”
So the Sage and the Guru engaged in debate
About good and bad, dark and light, faith and fate.
They bickered away day and night, night and day,
And their egos, exposed, did erode in the fray.
Soon the Sage and the Guru grew buoyantly light
And forgot how to figure what’s wrong or who’s right.
They no longer, for certain, knew who was who,
If the Guru was Sage or the Sage was Guru.
“Beautiful Sage-Guru, If you could but see,
You would no longer doubt I am you, you are me.”
“My most gentle Guru-Sage, if that were true
Then I would be wrong and right would be you.”
What was true, who was what, who was who, who’s to say?
Thus goes the new age Guru-Sage-Argue-Way.

Kabir - When He Himself reveals Himself

When He Himself reveals Himself, Brahma brings into manifestation That which can never be seen.
As the seed is in the plant, as the shade is in the tree, as the void is in the sky, as infinite forms are in the void--
So from beyond the Infinite, the Infinite comes; and from the Infinite the finite extends.

The creature is in Brahma, and Brahma is in the creature: they are ever distinct, yet ever united.
He Himself is the tree, the seed, and the germ.
He Himself is the flower, the fruit, and the shade.
He Himself is the sun, the light, and the lighted.
He Himself is Brahma, creature, and Maya.
He Himself is the manifold form, the infinite space;
He is the breath, the word, and the meaning.
He Himself is the limit and the limitless: and beyond both the limited and the limitless is He, the Pure Being.
He is the Immanent Mind in Brahma and in the creature.

The Supreme Soul is seen within the soul,
The Point is seen within the Supreme Soul,
And within the Point, the reflection is seen again.
Kabîr is blest because he has this supreme vision!

Miriam Louisa - here I is!

I sees but does not watch

I hears but does not listen

I feels but does not touch

I tastes but does not eat

I smells but does not inhale

I is freedom without the ‘from’

I perceives but doesn’t conceptualize

I has never been born and can never die

I is the still, silent, ubiquitous point at the centre of the spinning world

I has never believed one single belief nor thought one thought nor made one choice

I is amoral, innocent, unconditioned intelligence which has nothing to do with intellect

I is joy without cause

I is love without object

I is what one is
and what all sentient beings are
bottom-line,
fundamental,
I-ness
I-ing

Ashtavakra Gita 18.54-57

If the master encounters
A king or a woman
Or someone he dearly loves,
He is without desire.
And when he honors
A god or a holy place
Or a man versed in the scriptures,
There is no longing in his heart.
None at all!

He is unperturbed
Even when his servants despise him,
Or his wives, sons, and grandsons mock him.
Even when his whole family makes fun of him,
He is undismayed.

For him there is no pain in pain,
No pleasure in pleasure.
Only those who are like him
Can know his exaltation.

He has no form.
His form is emptiness.
He is constant and pure.
He has no sense of duty,
Which only binds men to the world.

Robert Adams - Everything is Satsang

You see you don’t have to practice self-inquiry by asking, “Who am I?” all the time

But the question I’m still getting is,
“Sometimes I’m not in the mood to practice. Sometimes I don’t feel right when I practice. Is there anything I can do before to get me in the mood to practice?”
And the answer is yes. If you like, before you practice self-inquiry, you can pray to your favorite God. Whoever he or she may be. Then when you become devotional you will want to practice self-inquiry also.

So what is something you can do before self-inquiry?
Well, let’s see.
You can take a statement such as:
“There is one life. That life is consciousness and that life is all there is and that life is my life now”.

Think about that.
There is one life.
That life is consciousness.
That life is all there is and that life is my life now.

And you ask yourself, “What does this mean?”
You see you don’t have to practice self-inquiry by asking, “Who am I?” all the time.
You do not have to start that way at all.
You can take something like we just said and inquire to yourself of its meaning.
You understand that there is one life and that life is consciousness.
And you talk to yourself this way, you say, “Well this means there is nothing else that exists but consciousness.
If only consciousness exists where does love come from or harmony or peace or joy or bliss?”
You think about that.
And then the answer comes, “Why these verities must be synonymous with consciousness.
In other words, consciousness is another term for bliss or love or joy or peace.
So if you have consciousness you have the rest.
And if that is all there is that must be me now.
Not tomorrow, or the next day or next week but right now!
I must be that consciousness and consciousness must be omnipresence.
Everywhere present at the same time.
There is nothing else.

This means that I’ve got no problems.
There is nothing wrong anywhere.
All is well.
Because there is no other place for it to come from, can’t you see? There is no place for troubles to come from.
There is no place for disharmony.
There is no place for evil.
But then something inside of you says, “Well it exists.
Look at man’s inhumanity to man.
Look at what is going on in the world, the homeless, the starving children of Ethiopia and so forth”.

Disharmony does exist.
But if you are inquiring in the right way in your Self, something will ask you and come to you and say, “Yes, but to whom does it exist?”
This means that it is not like you’re trying to ignore these things but you are coming from a different space.
You see the world differently.
You begin to realize that you are the Self of all.
The word Self with a capital ‘S’ does not mean you as yourself as an individual.
When you experience the Self you are the Self of all.
You are the universe.
You become all things.

In other words, everything is taking place within you.
Once you realize that you are the cause of everything in this world, something within you stops reacting.
You stop reacting.
You see what’s going on but you stop reacting because you’ve become the Self of all.
