Marguerite Porete - How Truth Praises Such Souls

Truth praises those who are such, and she says:

O emerald and precious gem,
True diamond, queen and empress,
You give everything from your fine nobility,
Without asking from Love her riches,
Except the willing of her divine pleasure.
Thus is this right by righteousness,
For it is the true path
of Fine Love, whoever wishes to remain on it.
O deepest spring and fountain sealed,
Where the sun is subtly hidden,
You send your rays, says Truth, through divine knowledge;
We know it through true Wisdom:
Her splendor makes us completely luminous.

Soul:

O Truth, says this Soul, for God's sake, do not say
That of myself I might ever say something of Him,
Save through Him;
And this is true, do not doubt it,
I was never lady by myself in this.
And if it pleases you to know whose I am,
I will say it through pure courtesy:
Love holds me so completely in her domain,
That I have neither sense, nor will,
Nor reason to do anything,
Except through her, as you know.

Chuck Surface - So Beautiful... so Terrible…

There is a Beautiful Sorrow.
How can I ever explain?

So Beautiful…
I would never dream to transcend.

A Sorrow Illumined by that,
Which is beyond Joy and Sorrow.

So Beautiful…
I would never dream to transcend.

Born of the BitterSweet Transience,
Of our existence in this ephemeral Dream,

So Beautiful… so Terrible...
I would never dream to transcend.

Lovers of the Absolute would leave this world,
And vanish in formless transcendence.

I have been to that Heaven,
And returned... not transcendent, but…

Illumined with Love's Immanence.

Love for this Wondrous World,
Of Heaven and Hell.

So Beautiful... so Terrible…
I would never dream to transcend.

I have drowned in Her Formless Embrace,
And awakened again on the shores of Duality…

Drenched in the Wine of Her Presence,
Here in the land of Joy and Sorrow,

Her Presence Illumines my Heart,
The Tavern of The Beloved,

Her Fragrance Blesses every breath,
Here, in Her Secret Garden,

So Beautiful... so Terrible…
I would never dream to transcend.

BitterSweet tears of Ecstasy and Agony,
For this Beautiful... Terrible World...

I would never dream to transcend.

Mary Elizabeth Frye - Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep:
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starshine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry:
I am not there; I did not die.

Jiddu Krishnamurti - Happiness

To the music of the distant flute
Flows the wide, ancient river,
Fresh with young waters.
Many chants are sung in praise of happiness,
Many gods are invoked as guides to happiness,
Many heavens are glorified as enticements to happiness,
Many altars are built to happiness,
Many rites are performed as offerings to happiness,
Many benedictions are asked as protection for happiness,
Many truths are extolled in anguish for happiness,
Many virtues are sought in fear for happiness,
Many possessions are gathered in hope of happiness,
Many desires are gratified in expectation of happiness,
Many sacrifices are made in quest of happiness,
Many austerities are imposed in longing for happiness.
Deep in the mire, the seed of the lotus is in travail,
The soft fragrance lies hid in the heart of the flower.

Kabir - I'm nothing

I won't come
I won't go
I won't live
I won't die

I'll keep uttering
The name
And lose myself
In it

I'm bowl
And I'm platter
I'm man
And I'm woman

I'm grapefruit
And I'm sweet lime
I'm Hindu
And I'm Muslim

I'm fish
And I'm net
I'm fisherman
And I'm time

I'm nothing
Says Kabir
I'm not among the living
Or the dead.

Rumi ♡ - Let me roast in Perfection!

O incomparable Giver of life,
cut reason loose at last!
Let it wander grey-eyed
from vanity to vanity.
Shatter open my skull,
pour in it the wine of madness!
Let me be mad, as You;
mad with You, with us.
Beyond the sanity of fools
is a burning desert
Where Your sun is whirling
in every atom:
Beloved, drag me there,
let me roast in Perfection!

Vicki Woodyard - Only Love

 A secret revealed,
a silent bell peals
the question complete
and the soul replete.

The case now closed
and the mind in repose.
The answer now known
but the questioner’s flown.

Just space and then time
after time after time.
No one there to seek.
Just week after week.
Only mountains and rivers.
and destined forgivers.

Mere earth turning round
hearing sound after sound.
Silence is singing and
nothing else matters.
Birds building skyscrapers
mad as the hatters.

Worms wending their way
through the night and the day.
I suspect it’s all love both
below and above.
I reach but it’s me
and that’s all I can see.

Rumi ♡ - All I hear is the call of my Beloved.

Last night I learned how to be a lover of God
To live in this world and call something my own

I looked inward
And the beauty of my own emptiness
Filled me till dawn
It enveloped me like a mine of rubies
Its hue clothed me in red silk

Within the cavern of my soul
I heard the voice of the lover crying
Drink now! Drink now!

I took a sip and saw the vast ocean
wave upon wave caressed my soul
The lovers of God dance around
And the circle of their steps
becomes a ring of fire around my neck

Heaven calls me with its rain and thunder
A hundred thousand cries
Yet I cannot hear

All I hear is the call of my Beloved.

Saint John of the Cross - For that I-know-not-what

Nicolò Lorenese, The Vision of Saint John of the Cross, 1686

 Not for all the beauty
will I ever be lost,
but for I-know-not-what
that by fortune I may reach.

The taste of what is finite,
Goes only as far
As to weary the appetite
And destroy the taste;
Thus not for sweetness
Will I ever be lost,
But for I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

The generous heart
Never cares to stop
Where it is easy to cross,
But tries where it is hard;
Nothing satisfies him,
And with faith he climbs so high,
That he tastes I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

He who is pierced by love,
Or touched by the divine,
Has his taste so changed
That to all taste he is dead;
As someone may leave
The food he sees when he is sick,
And craves for I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

Do not be surprised
That taste be thus changed,
For the cause of this evil
Is alien to all the rest;
Thus every creature
Sees itself estranged,
And tastes I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

For as soon as the will
is touched from above,
It cannot be satisfied
But with the divine;
Its beauty being such
That only faith may show it,
For it tastes of I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

Tell me if for such a lover,
You will feel any pain,
For he finds no pleasure
Among created things;
Alone, with no figure or shape,
Without company or even memory,
Except the taste of I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

Do not think that the soul,
That is worth much more,
Finds joy and happiness
In what on earth gives taste;
It is beyond beauty,
In what is, was or will be,
That it tastes I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

Whoever wants to advance
Would better use care
In what is left to gain
Than in what he has already won;
And thus aiming for the heights,
I will always try
For that I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

What comes through the senses
And may here be understood
And whatever may be learned,
Even though very high,
Not for all that beauty
Will I ever be lost,
But for that I-know-not-what
That by fortune I may reach.

Dorothy Walters - Ruined by Your Beauty

First, you cleansed me,
arriving as fire, as savage flood.

Next you tore me,
your panther tooth,
your lion claw,
limbs scattering like grass
in the garden of a great wind.

Then you made love to me,
night after night of unendurable
torment and passion.

Ruined by your beauty,
I have vanished,
fled into the nothingness
of who I am.

Narsinh Mehta - The flute resonates today!

The flute resonates today!
The flute resonates today!
The women dance with the lord,
dance, and sing as they play!
The flute resonates today!

The sound of clapping, the sound of drumming,
The harmony of the jingling anklets unbound!
Mohan is with the women, ravishing and proud,
Their ringing bells, and their melodious sound!
The flute resonates today!

Rapt, oblivious, and absorbed in each other
as they happily play!
Says Narsaiyyo, unbound is the joy of the ras players,
As tumultuous love comes down in showers!
The flute resonates today!
The flute resonates today!

Mooji - We are One

Some people feel I am ignoring them.
But its just that I don't see you
when you are in personhood.
I see you only when you are merging with presence.
Only then do you come into focus for me.
And it is not a calculation.
Something spontaneously responds like this.
As presence, I suddenly see you everywhere.
And its not your presence, as a person, that I see.
Its your absence, as a person, that I am attracted to.
When 'you' are absent personally,
then I know who Is here.
I love that One who is truly here.
Then you are nearer than your body can get.
In fact, we are not near or close
— we are One.
