Jean Klein - In communion with the whole

To be human is to be related. As a human being we live
in relation with the elements, the sun, moon, the stones
in the earth and all living beings. But what does ‘to be
related’, ‘to live in relation with’ mean? Generally, when
we use the word we mean a link of some kind between
individual entities, object to object, or subject to object.
The word relationship here presupposes separateness,
the joining together of fractions. This fractional view of
relatedness is purely conceptual. It is a figment of the
mind and has nothing to do with pure perception, reality,
with what actually is.
When we live free from all ideas and projections,
we come into real contact with our surroundings. Practically
speaking, therefore, before we can be related to our
environment we must first know how to be related to
that most near to us, body, senses and mind. The only
hindrance to the clear perception of our natural state is
the forceful idea of being a separate individual, living in
a world with other separate beings. We have an image of
ourselves.
This image can be maintained only in relation to
things and thus it makes objects of our surroundings,
friends, children, spouse, intelligence, bank account,
etc., and enters into what it calls a personal relationship
with these projections. The fanciful idea of a self is a
contraction, a limitation of wholeness, real being. When
this notion dies we find our natural expansion, stillness,
globality without periphery or centre, outside or inside.
Without the notion of an individual there is no sensation
of separateness and we feel a oneness with all things.
We feel the surroundings as occurrences in unrestricted
wholeness. When our lover or children leave home or
our bank account drops, it is an event in us. Awareness
remains constant.
All phenomena, all existence is an expression within
globality and the varieties of expression only have meaning
and relationship in light of the whole. To be related
is to be related within the whole. Since there is no meeting
of fractions, in the whole there is no other. Strictly
speaking, therefore, in perfect relation there is no relationship,
no duality; there is only globality. All perception
points directly to our primal being, to stillness,
the natural non-state which is common to all existence.
Thus, in the human expression, to be related is to be
in communion with the whole. In this communion the
so-called other’s presence is felt as a spontaneous giving
and our own presence is a spontaneous receiving. There
is no longer a feeling of lack and consequently a need
to demand, because simply receiving brings us to our
openness. When we live in openness the first impulse is
offering. Being in openness and the spontaneous movement
of offering is love. Love is meditation. It is a new
dimension in living.

Jiddu Krishnamurti - I have no name

I have no name,
I am as the fresh breeze of the mountains.
I have no shelter;
I am as the wandering waters.
I have no sanctuary, like the dark gods;
Nor am I in the shadow of deep temples.
I have no sacred books;
Nor am I well-seasoned in tradition.
I am not in the incense
Mounting on the high altars,
Nor in the pomp of ceremonies.
I am neither in the graven image,
Nor in the rich chant of a melodious voice.
I am not bound by theories,
Nor corrupted by beliefs.
I am not held in the bondage of religions,
Nor in the pious agony of their priests.
I am not entrapped by philosophies,
Nor held in the power of their sects.
I am neither low nor high,
I am the worshipper and the worshipped.
I am free.
My song is the song of the river
Calling for the open seas,
Wandering, wandering,
I am Life.
I have no name,
I am as the fresh breeze of the mountains.

Hafiz (Daniel Ladinsky) - A Crystal Rim

The
Earth
Lifts its glass to the sun
And light — light
Is poured.

A bird
Comes and sits on a crystal rim
And from my forest cave I
Hear singing.

So I run to the edge of existence
And join my soul in love.

I lift my heart to God
And grace is poured.

An emerald bird rises from inside me
And now sits
Upon the Beloved’s
Glass.

I have left that dark cave forever.
My body has blended with His.

I lay my wing
As a bridge to you

So that you can join us
Singing
.

David Carse - Perfect Brilliant Stillness

And so
there is only One
all else is illusion
construction in mind
there is nothing happening here
there is only
One Being Awareness

stillness silence perfection
and in the stillness
a breathing perhaps
as if
there is only One
breathing

and all this is that breathing
all this is That
we are That
we are that One
yet not –

not even we are One
because there is no we
only One
nothing happening here
despite what it seems
nothing matters

still
the One breathing
is an Outpouring of
pure blazing compassion
love forgiveness beauty gift

and I find that I am not
who I thought I was
what I have called ‘myself’
is nothing – is an idea is
an accretion of memories
attributes patterns thoughts
inheritances habits ideas
which I can look at and say

not I
I am not this
as myself I simply
am not
no self no me has ever existed –
illusion
fabrication

there is nothing happening
nobody here
there is only One
breathing
That is what I – is

I Am That
And That is All
and That is the Brilliance
which all this is –
life death love anguish
compassion understanding healing
light

the Brilliance within
where the Heart opens and there is
Nothing
no self no one
only aching beauty
and overwhelming gratitude

Outpouring

Fred LaMotte - 'you Are the path...'

"Be a wanderer." ~Jesus, Gnostic Gospel of Thomas

Ten thousand ardent pilgrims
follow the temple way.
But I wander off-trail.
Getting lost is my journey.
I don't seem to arrive
anywhere but here.
I am like mist in a forest.
Tell me when you get there, friend:
Is anything more lovely than a pear blossom
falling on a stream that weaves
among mossy boulders, liquid
mirror mirroring the liquid soul
and whispering,
'you Are the path...'

Bab'Aziz - The Prince That Contemplated His Soul

But where is this gathering?

- I don’t know, my little angel.

But do the others know?

- No, they don’t know either.

How can you go to a gathering without knowing where it is?

- It suffices to walk, just walk. Those who are invited will find the way.

~Bab ‘Aziz - - The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul

Sri Anandamayi Ma - Longing for the Divine

The sense of separation between God and man has continued to exist at all times.
God is ever ready to receive man with open arms.
But man, entangled in the meshes of his karma is not aware
of God's presence within him and, as if blind, neither sees nor even seeks Him.
Yet, when the individual becomes engrossed in the search after the Divine,
that very pain of separation becomes the causeway leading to union and thereby the floodgates of Bliss are released.
The hope of union itself is even more delightful than union itself.
With increasing faith and devotion one exults ever more in this hope until one's yearning and supplications bring about fulfillment.
Have you ever observed how in the mountains birds are calling to each other from two different summits without any cessation?
They hear each other's call quite well but derive so much satisfaction out of this love play from a distance, that they never fly near each other.
Calling out to God gives itself relief from the temporary pangs of separation.
The sense of want and absence is very necessary indeed.
The strong impetus to struggle on, aroused by the anguish of being divorced from God,
can never be induced by the recognition that the search after Truth is man's duty, ever aware of your emptiness, try to fill it by intense aspiration.
The deeper you become absorbed in thoughts of Him, the more will your growing longing
for the Divine avert your interests from all other pursuits and bring about complete self-surrender.
