Eric Baret ~ The right decision

How do we know we made the right decision?

Éric Baret:

If you took it, it is always bad; but you will see that,
in the end, it is always good,
because it was never you who took it.
It’s after that you say to yourself  "I have
taken it”, but it was inevitable.
It’s always the good decision, but you never took it.
That’s what you have to see, you have no choice, the
problem does not arise.
In sensitivity, there is nothing to decide.
Forget the decision, it is not in your hands, for
the good reason that there are no independent entities.
That’s only later that you ask yourself the question.
If you go to an astrologer, he’ll tell you what
you are going to do, it is a waste of energy to find the
responsibility in this.
Life has already decided for you.
No chance, no idea,no choice. .

U.G. Krisnamurti ~ "Throw in the towel"

art Gun Legler

It is the repetitive mechanism of thought that is wearing you out. So, what is it that you can do about it? -- that's all that you can ask. That's the one and the only question, and any answer that I or anybody gives adds momentum to that movement of thought. What is it that you can do about it? Not one thing. It's too strong: it has the momentum of millions of years. You are totally helpless, and you cannot be conscious of that helplessness.
If you practice any system of mind control, automatically the 'you' is there, and through this it is continuing. Have you ever meditated, really seriously meditated? Or do you know anyone who has? Nobody does. If you seriously meditate, you'll wind up in the loony bin. Nor can you practice mindfulness trying to be aware every moment of your life. You cannot be aware; you and awareness cannot co-exist. *If you could be in a state of awareness for one second by the clock, once in your life, the continuity would be snapped,* *The illusion of the experiencing structure, the 'you', would collapse, and everything would fall into the natural rhythm.* In this state you do not know what you are looking at -- that is awareness. If you recognize what you are looking at, you are there, again experiencing the old, what you know.
What makes one person come into his natural state, and not another person, I don't know. Perhaps it's written in the cells. It is acausal. It is not an act of volition on your part; you can't bring it about. There is absolutely nothing you can do. You can distrust anyone who tells you how he got into this state. One thing you can be sure of is that he cannot possibly know himself, and cannot possibly communicate it to you. There is a built-in triggering mechanism in the body. If the experiencing structure of thought happens to let go, the other thing will take over in its own way. The functioning of the body will be a totally different functioning, without the interference of thought except when it is necessary to communicate with somebody. To put it in the boxing-ring phrase, you have to "throw in the towel," be totally helpless. No one can help you, and you cannot help yourself.

Alain Joly ~ The Mystery

Sometimes opinions and beliefs isolate us
Should we have none, should we be just
Open and light-hearted, driven by the wind

Should we open ourself to the mystery
Concealed beneath thick layers of desire
The unfulfilled dreams of a thirsty conscience

Should we never be hungry, never thirsty
Hanging nothing on the walls of our thoughts
Keeping nothing and forgiving all

Should we leave everything at the threshold of our nights
And discover every morning, at last, this new day
That invites itself at the banquet of possibles

That one with sparkling hours rising straight and proud
Like bubbles bursting without return, renewed to the
Rhythm of the un-formed, of the non-becoming

Without wounds — never — why should there be
When every second contains them all
And when the mind is keen, sharp as a blade

When life offers herself, whole and ardent and never
For a moment ceases to be amazed at herself
At this love that irrigates her, incorruptible, never changing

That same one that moors us to the great Silence
For intimate apprenticeships, unexampled deliverances
Alone — yet feeling so vibrant and one with what is

Malidoma Patrice Somé ~ The power of quiet

The power of quiet is great.
It generates the same feelings in everything one encounters.
It vibrates with the cosmic rhythm of oneness.
It is everywhere, available to anyone at any time.
It is us, the force within that makes us stable, trusting, and loving.
It is contemplation contemplating.
Peace is letting go
– returning to the silence that cannot enter the realm of words
because it is too pure to be contained in words.
This is why the tree, the stone, the river, and the mountain are quiet.~

Wei Wu Wei ~ The Essential Identity

art Andrew Ostrovsky

'POSITIVE' is not positive without 'negative', and
'negative' is not negative without 'positive'. Therefore they
can only be two halves of one whole, two conceptual aspects
of one whole that as a whole cannot be conceived
—precisely because it is this which seeks to conceive.

'Being' cannot be without 'non-being', and 'non-
being' cannot not be without 'being'. Therefore they can
only be two conceptual aspects of one whole that as such
cannot be conceived—in which there is neither being nor
non-being as objective existences.

'Appearance' (form) cannot appear without 'void'
(voidness of appearance), and 'void' cannot be voidness of
appearance without 'appearance'. Therefore they must be
two conceptual aspects of what is objectively inconceivable
—as which their identity is absolute in non-objectivity.

'Subject' has no conceptual existence apart from
'object', nor 'object' apart from 'subject'. They, too, are twin
spinning aspects of the inconceivable in which they are
inevitably reunited in mutual negation.

Where there is neither positive nor negative, being
nor non-being, appearance nor void, subject nor object,
there must be identity. But identity cannot perceive itself,
and that is what we are. That is why only he who does not
know can speak, and why he who knows cannot speak
—for what-he-is cannot be an object of what-he-is, and so cannot
be perceived or described.

Positive and negative, being and non-being, appearance
and void, subject and object, can be conceived by us
because, as 'us', mind is divided into subject-conceiving and
object-conceived but, re-identified with what they are, we
are their total objective absence—which is thought of as
pure undivided mind.

Hakim Sanai ~ There is no place for place!

There is no place for place!
How can a place
house the maker of all space,
or the vast sky enclose
     the maker of heaven?

He told me:
"I am a homeless treasure.
The world was made
to give you a place to stand
     and see me."

Tell me, if the one you seek
is placeless,
why put your shoes on?
The real road
is found by polishing, polishing
     the mirror of your heart.

Hakim Sanai ~ The Wild Rose of Praise

Those unable to grieve,
or to speak of their love,
or to be grateful, those
who can't remember God
as the source of everything,

might be described as a vacant wind,
or a cold anvil, or a group
of frightened old people.

Say the Name. Moisten your tongue
with praise, and be the spring ground,
waking. Let your mouth be given
its gold-yellow stamen like the wild rose's.

As you fill with wisdom,
and your heart with love,
there's no more thirst.

There's only unselfed patience
waiting on the doorsill, a silence
which doesn't listen to advice
from people passing in the street.
