Mystic Meandering - Mystical Spirituality...

Being an unapologetic "mystic" at Heart, since childhood, means
for me experiencing the Living Presence of Life that animates all
life.  Some call that God, The Divine, The Beloved, The Ineffable,
"The Mystery", Consciousness, Infinite Being, Spirit, Brahman,
The Tao, etc., etc., etc.  It has many names and forms.  It means
being able to see and experience "The Mystery" in the every-day-ness
of life; something I'm still "working" on - being more aware of the
Sacred in a chaotic world, in the mundane personal affairs of living;
the requirements of daily life: in the must do's and the have-to's
that always find their way to the top of my list, and seem to drive
life...

A "mystical spirituality" pertains to direct experience with Ultimate
Reality/The Divine/"The Mystery"...  Some may assume that a
"mystic" doesn't experience the darker feelings and frustrations with
living the Cosmic Dance of life.  That has not been my  experience.
A "mystic" just experiences them within context of the Greater Reality
 - and learns to embrace them as part of the totality of  experience.
Some feel that a "mystic" has special insights, or powers,  or visions,
or is only interested in seeking "mystical experiences."
For me it is not about seeking experiences, but being open to the
movement of "The Mystery", the movement of Consciousness
through its many expressions, and at times experiencing an intimate
encounter with what I know to be "The Divine", like my Epiphany in
Nov. 2013, or Waking Up To Bliss like I did recently, or "meditative
writings" many years ago, and poetry that sometimes just spills
 out onto the page.

Mystical Spirituality acknowledges the universality of what most have
come to call "God," "The Divine", or Buddha Nature (Dharmakaya),
not associated with any particular faith, religion, or practice, but a
transcendent truth - realizing that humans, at the very core of their
being are both "Divine" and human; formlessness and form, spirit
in matter, Timelessness in time...  This "union" takes place within
ourselves with the realization that we are not a separate entity from
our Divinity, from Consciousness ItSelf, needing to grovel our way
back - but that "comm-union" is always happening.  There is always
only the movement of "Divinity" through life, through us.  There is
no other "Higher" Self to search for.  It's all Here within us...

Wayne Teasdale, a 20th Century Christian Mystic, and author of
A Mystic Heart, says:  "Mystical Spirituality draws us into the depths
of our Being, where we come face to face with ourselves, our weakness
AND with the Ultimate Mystery.  Spirituality is not external religiosity,
not confined to ritual and liturgy.  It is a way of life that affects and
includes every moment of existence.  It is a disposition to a life of depth."

He goes on - "How we make the journey is what spirituality is really
about - finding our own path.  This means finding a way to/awareness
of the vast unlimited Consciousness of The Divine, The Mystery
within. We are created for this 'spiritual journey' - the direct and
immediate experience of Ultimate Reality, which knows everything
as ItSelf. Being infinitely aware, it knows in a unitive and universal
fashion through awareness of no distance between ourselves and
the Ultimate Mystery...  The spiritual journey is essentially one of
discovering the roots of our true identity.  It is a process of the totality
of Consciousness, from which we arise.

He further says - "Everything is part of an undivided wholeness where
each being reflects this totality.  Non-duality means 'not two, and yet,
not one.'  [I know this is not the traditional Advaita/Non-dual
definition, but it is my experience as well.]  That is, the relationship
between Divine Reality and human being is a subtle distinction,
but not a separation.
And so the relationship is said to be non-dual.
Human beings are essentially Divine." [or Pure Consciousness, etc.]

Yosy Flug - Speaking of love…

 Once

I started

To speak

About love

Drawing out words

And images

Which, slow at first

Kept welling up

Flowing faster

Then I could draw…

And then they burst out

Gushing

Like a fountain.

So

I fell silent

Just watching

This endless spring

Unconcerned.

When thirsty,

I drink.

Tired, I doze off.

All is

As it should

Be.

Jeff Foster - The gateway of not knowing

"When you Don't Know,
there is a crack in the delusion of mind.
And you can be penetrated
by an entire Universe.

Not Knowing is not ignorance.
Nor is it stupidity.
It is Curiosity. It is Wonder.
It is the relaxation of the separate 'I',
and the presence of great Compassion.

When you Don't Know you can be entered
by a tired sun exploding into reds and oranges,
by a yellow moon and a trillion distant stars,
so far yet so close,
so distant yet so Here.

Knowledge will not bring you to it.
The 'I' cannot understand it.
Not Knowing is its gateway.

Surrender to the moon."

Matisha - River of The Beloved-Found/The Inexplicable Union

River of The Beloved-Found

Have you heard the song of lovers
finding the Beloved in each other for the first time?
Can you imagine the sound of all souls released
from the insanity of separation at once?

When you find the Beloved you won’t ask,
"How will I know when I am with the Beloved?"
Bodies move in the candle light
like waves meeting the same shore in each other.

To fly and feel with a heart
whose chains have become wings.
To fly, feel with a heart
whose chains have become wings.
To completely surrender to that touch
where every stroke reveals new realms.

Have you heard the song of lovers
finding the Beloved in each other for the first time?
Nothing like a lover’s tears,
the river of the Beloved-found.

To be the illumination which softens
even the harshest exteriors in men.
An illumination like that of the light
through an infant’s eyes.
The One in form, born here
from the vastness.

The Inexplicable Union

I spent years preparing myself to meet you
so when we came together I would be my full Self.
Many of the experiences I had
left me sore, anxious and afraid.

See through the disguise I wore so long
I forgot it still covered who I am.
Love’s fire burns away the external shell of belief
and we recognize each other.
The love star rises--sky full of blessings rain down,
each one a blossom of another part returning.

Bow down and kiss the earth with me.
Be humbled and held through each storm
that brings nourishment to the soul’s desert of lost love.
Give not one moment or breath to
seeing through the same eyes with which you have
seen all others and all other moments.

There is no frame you know of in which to put such a love.
Your trust is the only friend who can open the door,
the only friend who will open that door.
When you do, a flood of feeling will overcome you.
Do not compare this to anything.
You have been touched by The Friend.

Nothing will make sense
but the inexplicable union that is!

Rumi - A place

There is a place where words are born of silence.

A place where the whispers of the heart arise.

There is a place where voices sing your beauty.

A place where every breath carves your image in my soul.

Ganga White - What if

What if our religion was each other?

If our practice was our life?

If prayer was our words?

What if the Temple was the Earth?

If forests were our church?

If holy water—the rivers, lakes and oceans?

What if meditation was our relationships?

If the Teacher was life?

If wisdom was self-knowledge?

If love was the center of our being?

Wei Wu Wei - All that is

I only am as all beings,
I only exist as all appearances.
I am only experienced as all sentience,
I am only cognised as all knowing.
Only visible as all that is seen,
Every concept is a concept of what I am.
All that seems to be is my being,
For what I am is not any thing.

Being whatever is phenomenal,
Whatever can be conceived as appearing,
I who am conceiving cannot be conceived,
Since only I conceive,
How could I conceive what is conceiving?
What I am is what I conceive;
Is that not enough for me to be?

When could I have been born,
I who am the conceiver of time itself?
Where could I live,
I who conceive the space wherein all things extend?
How could I die,
I who conceive the birth, life, and death of all things,
I who, conceiving, cannot be conceived?

I am being, unaware of being,
But my being is all being,
I neither think nor feel nor do,
But your thinking, feeling, doing, is mine only.
I am life, but it is my objects that live,
For your living is my living.
Transcending all appearance,
I am immanent therein,
For all that is - I am,
And I am no thing.

Nisargadatta Maharaj - On progress

 • Questioner: How am I to know if there is any progress in my spiritual search? How am I to know if I am progressing? •

• Maharaj: You don't really listen. If you did, such a question should not arise. And, if at all it did, you could have easily dealt with it yourself, in case you had listened to me attentively and understood what I had been saying. Instead, I find that this question does disturb many of you. The problem apparently is about 'progress'. Now, who is to make the progress, and progress towards what? I have said this repeatedly and untiringly that you are the Conscious Presence, the animating consciousness which gives sentience to phenomenal objects; that you are not a phenomenal object, which is merely an appearance in the consciousness of those who perceive it. How can an 'appearance' make any 'progress' towards any objective? Now, instead of letting this basic perception impregnate your very being, what you do is to accept it merely as an ideological thesis and ask the question. How can a conceptual appearance know whether it is making any conceptual progress towards its conceptual liberation? Perception is not a matter of gradual practice. It can only happen by itself instantaneously, there are no stages in which deliberate progress is made. There is no 'one' to make any progress. Perhaps, one wonders, could it be that the surest sign of 'progress', if one cannot give up the concept, is a total lack of concern about 'progress' and an utter absence of anxiety about anything like 'liberation', a sort of' 'hollowness' in one's being, a kind of looseness, an unvolitional surrender to whatever might happen? •
