Maghrebi - Until you let go of your self

Smash the jug;
you’re the water, not the jug.

Let go of yourself;
you are the ocean,
not the stream.

Take a journey beyond your self;
you will see Oneness.

Leave behind “I” and “you”;
you will see you are Him.

How long do you continue to travel around the world?
Start your journey from your self,
and travel within.

Though you have been a seeker for years,
you have never sought Him
in yourself.

Take a step beyond your self,
and you will find the crown of spiritual poverty
on your head.

How could you travel towards His District?
You are still a child chasing the bat and the ball.

Become polished like a mirror
to reflect the Friend;
don’t be a hypocrite with two sides,
like a piece of paper,

Oh Meghrebi, you will not gain the bounty of His union
until you let go of your self,
…completely.

Rumi - I Swear By You

I am all in a frenzy again,
That way I swear by you.
I tear off the bounds you bind me with,
I swear by you.

I am crazy enough to tie up demons.
I speak to the birds, I am Solomon.
I swear by you.

I do not want this fleeting life.
You are my precious life.
I do not want a gloomy soul.
You are my soul.
I swear by you.

When you hide from me I am all darkness and unbelief.
When you reappear, I am a believer.
I swear by you.

Drinking water from the jug, I saw your image
And regretted every breath I took without you.
I swear by you.

On the highest heaven, without you
I am broody like a gloomy cloud.
In a rose garden without you, I am in a prison.
I swear by you.

Let me declare in love
That He is the lion and I am the deer.
But a deer that guards lions.
I swear by you.

The Sama to my ear is your name.
That, to my brain, is your cup.
Build me up, for I am in ruins.
I swear by you.

In church and mosque, you are my aim.
Wherever you turn, I turn.
I swear by you.

My Master, my guide, my pain and my cure.
I live in your love.
My Master.
My God.

Rumi - Lesson in metaphysics

Whole worlds are manifested by Divine Intelligence (‘aql), which is like an ocean. All the forms of existence are like cups or bowls floating on the face of the water. They float for a while, and eventually they fill with water and sink back to the depths from which they came. The Divine Intelligence remains hidden, while the worlds are visible as waves and ocean spray. Sometimes these forms can reveal the true nature of the Ocean, and sometimes the Ocean casts the forms away.

Just as an arrow forgets the Archer, the heart forgets the Giver of conscience. In such a state we are like a rider who thinks he has lost his horse while he is speeding down the road. We go mindlessly from place to place searching for our horse, unaware that the horse is under our thighs. Spirit is so obvious and immediate that we do not see It. We see colors, but those colors become veils and we do not recognize the Light. Light itself makes perception possible, yet we are unaware or even in denial of the Light. Light allows us to perceive both the outer forms, as well as inner thoughts and states.

The light of the eye is derived from the light of the heart, and the light of the heart is from the Divine Light, which is pure and separate from the light of intellect and sense.

Both light and darkness exist, but darkness exists in order to reveal the Light. Pain and sorrow cause us to value real happiness. Hidden qualities are revealed by opposites. We are only able to perceive through contrasts and opposites, but since God has no opposite, He is hidden. Our eyes do not see God, but God encompasses our seeing. Forms are bodied forth from the reality of Meaning. The jungle creates the Lion; an articulate voice arises from thought, but we do not see the sea of thought. But if the waves of words are beautiful, you know the sea from which they come is noble.

The form was born from the Word and died again; the wave fell back into the Sea.

Chuck Hillig - “just this”

You will never “know” the Truth.

You can only “Be” the Truth.

There is no “knower” that’s really separate from
the Truth that’s being known.

The ego says that it wants to experience the
Truth, but it survives more by saying “no” to the
truth than it does by saying “yes” to it.

However, consciousness is truth, itself, and so
it needs no one present in order to validate it.

Life is just as it is.

There’s nothing more than “just this.”

And, quite amazingly, there’s nothing else than
“just this.”

Rupert Spira - Single mind

"Just as, relatively speaking, each of our finite minds appears in the form of innumerable thoughts and perceptions without ever ceasing to be an integral whole, so every person is a thought in the mind of infinite consciousness, whose infinite and indivisible nature is never compromised by their apparent multiplicity and diversity.

"...each of our minds, and all the minds of those who have lived before us, is born from a single mind, of which it is an extension. We are literally each other. Each of us is the outer face, or the objectification, of the only mind there is, eternal, infinite consciousness. We are all mirrors of the same consciousness."

Sandy Jones - Divine light

moon “Luna” by Evelyn De Morgan (1885).

Love leaves the confines of ideologies, doctrines, dogma and the restricting limitations of regulations and rules. Love is freedom. Love makes it easy to see in new ways. It opens the heart to expansive vistas, to freedom. Love and freedom go hand-in-hand. Love and Reality resides right here as the very Identity I am. Each of us can put ourself here because this unbound Self, this tranquility, this joy, this peace and beauty is your Identity as well.

A rush of passion celebrates the joy of this simple, everyday existence of my being, of life, this marvelous magic that is being me. I am this living mystery of ever-flowering beauty. The moonlight song ten thousand fathoms deep is a fact quite plenty enough for me.

I’m filled with this awe and wonder that is living here in the middle of an infinity of myself.  Life is an enigma, a mystery so extraordinary, veiled in the soft pink light of the ordinary.

How marvelous this goodness of God’s love is.  I am a million joys, living irresponsibly and aimless, carried by this river of fearless love that upholds me.

It is not mine to tell others what to do. Mine is this wind blown freedom of an irresistible and effortless joy.  Mine is a deep, blue lake, reflecting the periwinkle sky. My heart hears the sounds of happy laughter, here, in the silvery moonlight, where the children and the fairies play.

Henry Miller - Life illuminated

Life, as we all know, is conflict, and man, being part of life, is himself an expression of conflict. If he recognizes the fact and accepts it, he is apt, despite the conflict, to know peace and to enjoy it. But to arrive at this end, which is only a beginning (for we haven’t begun to live yet!), a man has got to learn the doctrine of acceptance, that is, of unconditional surrender, which is love…

The desire for a lasting external security is uppermost, revealing itself in the endless pursuit of health, happiness, possessions an so on, defense of what has been acquired being the obsessive idea, and yet no real defense being possible, because one cannot defend what is undefendable. All that can be defended are imaginary, illusory, protective devices…

Those who are trying to put the onus of responsibility for the dangers which threaten on the shoulders of the ‘dictators’ might well examine their own hearts and see whether their allegiance is really ‘free’ or a mere attachment to some other form of authority, possibly unrecognized. …

Real love is never perplexed, never qualifies, never rejects, never demands. It replenishes, by grace of restoring unlimited circulation. It burns, because it knows the true meaning of sacrifice. It is life illuminated.
