Wu Hsin - Life without trying

"The natural condition is life without trying.
A mirror reflects whatever is in front of it. There’s no deliberateness, no trying to reflect things. Every trying is a movement away from this naturalness.
As you listen to Wu Hsin, a gong is struck outside. You hear it. You don’t try to hear it.
When you sit, you have the feeling of your body on the floor. You don’t try to feel it.
A thought arises; you don’t try to think. Likewise, rice is digested without trying.
This is what you are, perceiving and living without trying. This is inherent in everyone, complete in everyone, not less in ordinary people, not more in sages.
The novice Pu Chai Tzu then approached Wu Hsin and, speaking softly, asked: ‘My dearest Master, I have heard your words. Are you suggesting that I stop trying to drop this personage that seems so real?’
Master Wu Hsin replied: The notion of personhood can drop away permanently. It does so temporarily every night. However, the paradox is that you can’t drop 'you’.
Just as you can’t will yourself to sleep, you can’t will away 'you’. You can’t renounce 'you’. Nor can any practice or method take 'you’ away.
The perception of a 'you’ is by itself the best proof of that which is antecedent to 'you’, its perceiver.
Those instants when one is aware of a seeming person reveal that one is not that person.
Attendance to this prior-ness discloses 'you’ for what it really is; with attendance to this prior-ness, the 'you’ cannot stand.
Now, don’t try to understand, Pu Chai Tzu. Understand."

Ilie Cioara - True Happiness

The moment we encounter true Happiness, we are in fact outside time and space. The “ego” – with its intrinsic duality – has completely disappeared.

In that moment, the Sacred within us, also existent in the whole universe, becomes one “Whole” and a Unique movement, in a permanent renewal.

Do we truly experience this union, or do we merely understand it intellectually? You alone can answer this question.

Each human being – from the moment of birth until the moment of the so-called death – persistently searches for this mysterious Happiness. Unfortunately, most people make the mistake of searching for it with the thinking mind.

Because Happiness has no motivations, It is not part of the limited world. Its nature is infinite; therefore the knowing mind cannot encounter It, or understand It, or imagine It.

Happiness comes to us by Itself, and It envelops our whole being when the mind becomes humble and silent, as it has understood its inability to encounter the Unknown.

Lucid Attention – with Its flashes – dissipates all the darkness, as well as the baggage of the dysfunctional mind.

In the empty space of peace or no-mind, our being is extended into Infinity; in that moment, the Divinity within us reveals we are one with the Source of the Sacred. In conclusion, let us add that in the environment of “Pure Consciousness”, Happiness is present as a natural fulfillment and It is unlike anything that can be found in this perishable world.

The Song of the Butterfly

Hafiz - Let us move beyond all place

Come, we will fill our cups with wine,
scatter roses to the wind,
let love raise the roof of heaven
and create a vision beyond our dreams.

Oh let us pour the dew of roses
in a clear vessel of crimson wine,
and fill the air with fragrance
of the sweetness of compassion.

O minstrel, play the music of joy
on the strings of our hearts.
Let us sing a litany of love songs
and turn our delight into dancing.

O wind of freedom, carry my dust
to the courts of heaven.
Let me glance upon the face
that wears the crown of all creation.

There are those who boast of wisdom,
and those who raise their voices to impress.
Let us surrender our fate
to the judgment and mercy of Love.

Come to the winehouse with us
if you desire a bliss beyond heaven,
for we shall guide you into
a fountain of eternal ecstasy.

In the world of place, they will
pay no reward for poetry or for
the songs streaming from our hearts!
Come Hafiz! Let us move beyond all place.

Anne D. LeClaire - Silence

This is where silence has brought me

Now, standing by the shore, I am as filled with awe and thankfulness as on that January afternoon. In this moment, I am sustained by a sense of wonder and peace, humbled by life, and respectful of it, connected to the planet and her people, and to something much greater than myself, an invisible essence for which I have no language. I live in its mystery, content to let it be revealed. I do not have to name it. It is enough to know its truth.

This is where silence has brought me.

Silence is not an absence but a presence

Lindbergh wrote more than fifty years ago, "Not knowing how to feed the spirit, we try to muffle its demands in distractions. Instead of stilling the center, the axis of the wheel, we add more centrifugal activities to our lives -- which tend to throw us off balance."
But our spirit has an instinct for silence. Every soul innately yearns for stillness, for a space, a garden where we can till, sow, reap, and rest, and by doing so come to a deeper sense of self and our place in the universe. Silence is not an absence but a presence. Not an emptiness but repletion. A filling up.

Robert Adams - Silence

The silence is another way of saying
to keep your mind stayed on God all the time.
God is the silence and you are that.
Feel the silence right now.
You can feel it. It's a thing of beauty.
You know when you're getting into the true silence,
you begin to become happier, and happier and happier for no reason.
It makes no difference what's going on in the world.
The world is in one place and you're in another place.
In the deep silence you are identifying
with the substratum of creation.
Always remember to go into the silence.
A sage is always in the silence.
A sage may be talking, listening, partaking of activities,
but to the sage there's only silence.

Naomi Stone - Gateway to heaven..

 O how can I share
my mesmerizing
night journeys
as a wayfaring wandering mystic…
timeless flight with
all boundaries falling into light..
when I become music..
flowing in rivers of sky blue water…
am kissed by sparking stars
scattering everywhere…
weaving garlands in my hair..
divine fingers in the wind
playing with my curls..
snowflakes on my toes…
a single touch sends me spinning
through galaxies
into spiraling arms of the sun….
hidden from everyone…
Love calls me where it will…
dissolving in thrill after thrill…
I laugh in the pure joy of it all….
quivering wings in hallowed air…
Perhaps one day…I will meet you there…….
