Zen Biology Lesson for Enlightenment

The heart pumps blood all by itself without you doing it.
The lungs breathe air all by themselves without you doing it.
The brain associates concepts with other concepts all by itself.

The mind is thinking (randomly babbling) completely on its own.

Let's look inside for just a brief minute...
How long can you keep the mind completely silent?
If you try to stop thinking, it just starts right back up again.
Words, verbalization, thoughts, thinking, and emotionalism are completely automatic.
You can't stop it by controlling it, but you can (eventually) stop it by non-judgmentally watching it.
The brain works completely by itself.
It has nothing to do with "you" doing it.
This means that you are not the doer of deeds, nor the thinker of thoughts.
The mind/body is an "it", not a "me".

The brain's thoughts and body's actions are just the result of cells doing work.

We are not the physical body/mind and its senses.
We are not the mind and its automatic rambling thoughts.

We are the still, conceptless, silent Awareness that is aware of them.
We are the Awareness that is watching the body/mind's automatic functioning.
We are the Silent Formless Observer.
We are the Life/Consciousness/Awareness that is simply aware of Itself as existing.

We have mistakenly identified ourselves as being the physical mind/body.
We have mistakenly identified ourselves with form.
It was an erroneous belief all along.

The real "you", the Silent Aware Mind, is not confined to a brain, or anything else.
It's Infinitely Everything beyond physicality.
It's the (formless) Allness of Existence.
It's No-Thing, yet Infinitely Everything.

But thinking about that won't help you realize/experience that.
You have to stop identifying with thoughts altogether to realize that.

Charlie Hayes - The Light of Being

Just NOTICE ... There is a Light that shines prior to and through the "mind" ... the thought-machinery ... and that Light allows, permeates and animates all that appears in this wondrous dream of being-and-the-world. As Sri Nisargadatta said:

"Even the sense 'I am' is composed of the pure light and the sense of being. The 'I' is there even without the 'am'. So is the pure light there whether you say 'I' or not. Become aware of that pure light and you will never lose it. The beingness in being, the awareness in consciousness, the interest in every experience - that is not describable, yet perfectly accessible, for there is nothing else."

That Light is a palpable Presence, always ON, always FREE, always and ever fresh. Just notice that. Without that Light of Being, could anything else BE? Noticing that palpable Presence prior to and infusing what is "present" frees the "seeker" fro the false self-center, which is nothing more than a believed fiction, an insubstantial and utterly powerless storytelling machine with and assumed but unfindable "false entity" at the center. The assumption "I am the center of the universe, all this is happening to me" IGNORES the Light Of Being and obscures the freedom and love that We ARE in Truth, but only "apparently". Suspend belief in the fictional self-center and right now, right here, the Truth is obvious and incontrovertible> I AM the Light, and that is all there is.

This is about the end of seeking and seeker, not about attaining a "special state" for that false self-center. Seeing IS happening and registering these words appearing now, here. But what is That which makes the seeing possible? What is That which animates, and registers, the seeing? That is NOT the story; that allows the story. Repeating this pointer happens a lot, because the habit of mind is to think "i am me" and that this "me" IS separated from "everything else. Bit can anything, even a believed story, ACTUALLY exist apart from the Light of being?

There is no separation between the sky and the clouds and the sun, the sky and the moon, the sky and the stars. Right? Have a look! Even darkness, the pitch black of a deep cave, is still lit by that Light. To know darkness AS the Self and as the Light is freedom. And in this there is love, impersonal and palpable as the I-Light. Yes, we are all That. There is only That in Truth. But do not "believe this" please; just let the pointers sink in and notice the ever fresh and fully present light of Being, and BE THAT and nothing else.

Despite our false beliefs, all truly IS The One Light. So, BE That. Love That. Respect That. It's so simple; since you already are That, just allow the false belief in being other than that evaporate naturally in the Warm Light of True Being. That is the greatest gift of the end of seeking:

Being as You Are.

From 'Brihadaranyaka Upanishad'

As long as there is duality, one sees the other, one hears
the other, one smells the other, one speaks to the other,
one thinks of the other, one knows the other; but when
for the illumined soul the all is dissolved in the Self, who
is there to be seen by whom, who is there to be smelt by
whom, who is there to be heard by whom, who is there to
be spoken to by whom, who is there to be thought of by
whom, who is there to be known by whom? Ah, Maitreyi,
my beloved, the Intelligence which reveals all by what
shall it be revealed? By whom shall the Knower be  known?
The Self is described as *not this, not that.*  It is incom-
prehensible, for it cannot be comprehended; undecaying
for it never decays; unattached, for it never attaches;
unbound, for it is never bound. By whom, O my beloved,
shall the Knower be known?

Nirmala - I have fallen in love with truth

I have fallen in love with truth
I only want to be with her
I cannot stand to be apart
I would gladly go to the ends of the earth
or I would never again move from this spot
just to be sure to inhale her fragrant perfume
with my dying breath
I have fallen in love with truth
her every wish my command
I simply must obey
for she has captured my soul
and taken complete control
of even my innermost thoughts
freeing me to find repose in her unadorned splendor
I have fallen in love with truth
with exquisite tenderness she shows me
the perfection in my every flaw
no need for pretense
for she knows everything about me
and yet takes me in her arms
with complete abandon
until only she remains

I Trust You With My Face [Poetical Writings]

We looked out at the world
So full of color and shapes,
Sensations and sounds,
A symphony of emotions,
Thoughts, ideas.
And then we looked back
To where we looked from
And all was quiet
All was clear
Nothing.
And then I looked into your face
And realized it must be mine,
The one I had looked for
All this time,
And I caressed it with my eyes
And held it in my mind
As a precious gift
Describing my identity.
And as you looked at me
My face was yours
Unconditionally given
From that clear and open place
And in that silent space
You were me
And I was you
With all the universe.
